Beginning his career in his home country of South Africa, Shaun Lovell attained a Farrier apprenticeship in 1996 with one of the leading professionals in the industry. During his training he worked on a variety of horses from Thoroughbred racing to sport and general pleasure.

In 2001 he moved to Los Angeles California where he started a practice consisting of Sport and pleasure horses but due to family commitments returned to South Africa in 2005. There he teamed up with one of the largest Farrier companies in the country, the Strong & Durrant team, applying his services to champion trainers like Mike DeKock and Charles Laird. During this period Shaun was involved with and shod multiple group race winners across the country. Not only did he specialize in Thoroughbred racing but also a variety of Show Jumper, Dressage and pleasure horses.

In 2016 he relocated back to the USA and settled in the state of Maryland where he operates his company ‘Saffa Farrier Services Inc.’ focused on the sport and pleasure horse worlds where he can best apply his wealth of experience in the form of a quality and therapeutic practice.
